DRIVER'S LICENSE
SUSPENSION

Driver’s licenses are routinely suspended for a wide range of

non-driving offenses, including failure to pay court fines and fees and failure to appear in court. Each charge brings a new license suspension and hefty reinstatement fee. Without viable public transportation options in most of the state, driver’s license suspension for non-driving offenses is overly punitive and counter-productive, as it makes it more difficult for a person to work and pay their debt. Worse, enormous law enforcement resources are wasted when police have to arrest people and impounding vehicles for driving on a suspended license.
