ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
End Solitary is decARcerate campaign seeking to end Arkansas' practice
of extreme isolation, replacing it with program-rich evidence-based alternatives.
The Arkansas Department
of Correction recently added 400
additional solitary confinement cells, meaning that at any given time, up to 16% of Arkansas' prison population could be housed in isolation.
Help us stop further expansion.
Solitary confinement has repeatedly been called "torture" and "a violation of human rights" by the United Nations.
Together we can replace this abusive practice with proven alternatives.
Help us stop the practice.
All across the country,
states are turning away from
solitary confinement. Together we can insist that prisons become
program-rich communities which support safe, healthy rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Help us demand alternatives.
Solitary confinement is the process
by which individuals are kept isolated for 23-24 hours
a day in a 6 by 9 foot cell with limited human interaction
and little constructive activity.
